Runway Status Lights System - RWSL - Airport Traffic Information Service

This site is hosted by MIT Lincoln Laboratory in support of the FAA/ATO-P RWSL DFW Operational Evaluation. MIT Lincoln Laboratory has been tasked by FAA/ATO-P to implement the evaluation system at DFW, design and execute the Operational Evaluation, and develop an assessment of the operational suitability of Runway Status Lights (RWSL).

Air Traffic Information Service

The following messages will be added to the Air Traffic Information Service (ATIS) when the Runway Status Lights (RWSL) system is in use.

DFW ATIS message

...RUNWAY STATUS LIGHT TEST IN PROGRESS ON RUNWAY 18 LEFT AND 36 RIGHT. DO NOT DEPART OR CROSS RUNWAY WHEN RED LIGHTS ARE ILLUMINATED...

SAN ATIS message

...Runway status lights operational evaluation in progress. Do not cross illuminated red lights at selected taxiway intersections...
